Get answers to common questions about Areola.
Modern medical lasers at Catalia are adjustable for most skin tones, making Areola treatment generally safe. We conduct a consultation and patch test to choose settings that minimize pigment changes and protect nipple sensitivity, ensuring comfort and optimal results for your skin type.
Because the areola is a very small area, treatments are brief—usually five to fifteen minutes. Your appointment may be slightly longer to review medical history, consent, and pre-treatment numbing, but in-room laser time is quick and efficient.
Scarring is rare with professional laser treatments when performed correctly. Temporary sensitivity, redness, or mild swelling can occur but typically resolves within days. We use conservative settings and cooling, and recommend follow-up care to monitor healing and address any concerns promptly.
Most clients require four to eight sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart, depending on hair growth cycles, hair thickness, and skin type. During consultation we create a personalized plan and adjust frequency to maximize long-term hair reduction.
Avoid plucking or waxing for at least four weeks and skip tanning before treatment. Shaving is allowed. After treatment, keep the area clean, avoid sun exposure and hot baths, apply soothing ointment or aloe, and follow our post-care instructions.
Recent tanning increases risks of burns and pigment changes, so we typically postpone Areola treatment until tan fades. We recommend waiting several weeks and scheduling a patch test to confirm safe laser settings for your current skin tone.
